What’s your opinion on anti-console PC fanboys?

January 7th, 2011

They just seem way worse than console fanboys to me. A bunch of 20-30 year old men whining about how the consoles aren’t worthy of ANY game. They seem to think only the PC should be used for gaming, case closed. Console fanboys are annoying too but at lease they’re too stupid for my to care due to them being 10-15 year olds. But these PC guys actually go out of there way to copy and paste tons of statements they found on google that attempt to verify the "fact" that consoles are trash. I just want to look at a few comments on console game review forums to see other console gamers’ opinions without seeing loads of people claiming PC is better.
Not everyone can afford a $2000 gaming computer.
Like john c.

Consoles saved gaming(that begun with the NES)

It’s a historical fact.

But, as for PC fanboys, they seem to whine because PC isn’t as great as before. I saw a thread about the greatest games of 2009(yet) on IGN, and a PC fanboy said: Why put that on the PC section they aren’t any PC games, lol

1. Always consider your buying source. Whether you are buying local to you or from a retail outlet you need to weigh the pros and cons.  The benefit of buying from a local dealer is that if you are not happy with the product you can always take it back. If you buy it from a retail outlet then sending it back might take time and you might not really want the hassle to not be with your cheap Xbox360 for long periods of time.

2. Another unique source is buying online but as always you will need to consider the source. When buying a cheap Xbox360 console or games, do make sure you read the fine print (if it is available) to check for occurrences of improper functionality or wear and tear etc.

This is because you can get the total package at a relatively low price. Do be cautious thought because sometimes bundles are just a way of really enticing buyers. I will suggest always doing price comparisons with the other bundled to see how much of a deal you are really getting.

4. Buying a second hand Xbox360 online can also work to your advantage because you can save money for a working Xbox360. Most often people just didn’t like their Xbox360 gaming system, or they got another console such as the Wii for Christmas which they prefer. Whatever the case always ask why the seller is selling and if possible ask about return policy. You are more likely to end up with a great product at a low price if you proceed with caution.

5. Finally as with any transaction try to ask for goodies when buying a cheap Xbox360 console. If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Finding a good deal on a cheap Xbox360 is very easy to do when you are in the know. You could ask the buyer to add some accessories or games for free for a good price. As always stay sharp, focused and ask the right questions, and most importantly when you see a good deal, act quickly.

What is the best way to play a dance video game (such as dance dance revolution) on my pc or television?

December 30th, 2010

I know there’s a plug & play mat but the reviews don’t sound very good and I saw something called stepmania but I can’t find much on it. What about buying an older video game console (ps2?) with a version of the game? How much would that cost?

The plug and plays are not at all very good so skip those. There are a wide variety of dance games available for the north American video games systems. If you have a Playstation 2, your best bet is in the Dance Dance Revolution games. The latest one in stores right now is Dance Dance Revolution X and features over 70 all new songs to play. In all there are a total of 10 Dance Dance Revolution games that will play on Playstation 2 (3 of them for PS1). My personal favorite is DDR Extreme 2 as it features a wide variety of the top favorites from the arcade versions. Most new DDR games come bundled with the official dance pad. DDR is also available for Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, X-Box, and X-Box 360 but not the Playstation 3. Any new ddr game with pad will set you back $50 to $60 and the games alone are about $20 to $40 a piece. Systems of course vary in price.

Stepmania is my primary way to play as it is a free to download open coded game software that plays like Dance Dance Revolution (4-panel) games and Pump It Up (5-panel) games. The trick to Stepmania is that you must find songs to install into the game. I myself have over 2000 songs on my computer which I play from. A good source for really fun custom made songs is http://www.ddrencore.com. You can download the Stepmania program itself at http://www.stepmania.com.

Who Will Win The Hi-def Games War?

December 27th, 2010

With Sony’s PlayStation 3 finally launched across the globe, the next-gen videogames wars can start in earnest. Microsoft already has a reasonable installed base for Xbox 360, but not enough to guarantee dominance, while Sony’s consumers’ brand loyalty is being tested to the limits by the PS3′s high price point.

Nintendo, meanwhile, has carved out a nice niche for itself by making next-gen not about hi-def, with its ridiculously named, but extremely popular Wii.

Within the industry though, most pundits are expecting a much more level playing field this time around, with Microsoft and Sony battling it out, but neither gaining significant domination over the other. This is, frankly put, a disaster for Sony whose PlayStation 2 console defined a generation, and not just of consoles.

What is the reason for this shift? One word: exclusivity. In the good old days, games publishers were convinced to launch their game on a single console, and then perhaps later allow it to grace the competitors’ machines, and so Lara boosted the original PlayStation and GTA helped the PS2 explode. With the next-gen, exclusivity is all but gone. GTA will launch on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and Lara is two-timing the PlayStation all over the place. There are even rumours that Snake will turn tail and that Metal Gear Solid 4 will not be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. In fact, the only games that remain exclusive to a format tend to be those developed by the console manufacturers themselves, first party games as they are known.

So, what do Microsoft and Sony have up their sleeve? Sony has a game called Heavenly Sword, which has games journalists very excited, but apart from this its near-future release schedule is quite embarrassing.

Microsoft on the other hand has a machine mature enough to be expecting its second-wave of titles, games which should really be starting to take advantage of the next-gen hardware (to date, only Gears of War has really shown its next-gen credentials to gamers). And its line up is looking OK, and not just first party: Bioshock, from 2K, Mass Effect, a highly anticipated game from Bioware, who can do no wrong, Halo 3 to arrive one month after GTA IV on both platforms – you don’t have a bucket big enough to describe how many bucketloads this game will sell, Fable 2, from the well-liked Lionhead Studio and then later more Project Gotham Racing and Halo action.

Essentially, this year Xbox 360 has some good triple A games, with 2 tent pole releases in GTA IV and Halo 3. Sony has GTA IV and Heavenly Sword and then many more third party, multi-platform games.

So, expect Microsoft to shift some units with their line up, but Sony will also be hoping for a GTA effect on its console. This pinkish, if not rosy, outlook for Microsoft could change next year though. Sony has more development staff than anyone else, and while it might be taking its time, you have to expect its first party games to start coming through.

All of this, of course, is only considering the games consoles as just that, and it remains to be seen what effect, if any, the Blu-Ray (PS3) vs HD-DVD (Xbox 360) hi-definition formats for videos have on sales.

How do you record a video game off your TV?

December 23rd, 2010

By that I mean, to put on your PC.

I want to review games, both handheld and console. I’m buying a Game Boy Player, for my GB, GBC and GBA games.

I need to record stuff off of my tv.

I know of this thing you have to buy, but it seems troublesome.

The only way I can think of to do this, would be to use a dvd recorder that gets it from your tv. Then, you would rip the data off of the dvd and onto your computer.

In the end, your going to have better luck buying a capture card for about $100.

Good luck.

Play through the original Star Wars trilogy — Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi — as all three movies are re-created using LEGO bricks. You can play as one of 50 different characters, ride in various vehicles and even ride on several creatures. Our recommendation: If you liked the first Star Wars game, this one should definitely be on your list. If you’ve never played the first game, then this one must be on your list! So really, there isn’t any reason not to own and play this rewarding game.

7. Madden NFL 07 – Sports

With Madden NFL 07, innovative rushing controls allow you to control the running game like never before, with all-new jukes, cutbacks, and the distinct running styles of your favorite backs. For the first time, in a football video game, you can step up as the lead blocker to create a hole, and then take control of the tailback to smash through, jump over, or tear away from any would-be tackler as you head for the end zone. One fan raved, “Overall it was exactly what i was looking for, … the new features are all fun, and the individual camera view for every position in superstar mode gave u a feeling of really playing as the character. This will be a great game to play alone or with a group of friends.”

8. Dead Rising – Action

Dead Rising follows the harrowing saga of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist. In pursuit of a clue, he makes his way to a small suburban town only to find that it has been overrun by zombies. He escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety, but it turns out to be anything but. In the intense struggle to survive the endless stream of zombies, players have full reign of a realistic shopping center, utilizing anything they find to fight off the flesh-hungry mob. The variety of stores in the mall offers players an endless supply of resources including vehicles, makeshift weapons and more. Players encounter other survivors along the way, and by helping them, acquire valuable clues as to what has happened and how to survive. I couldn’t say it better than this fan: “Thousands … of zombies to kill in a myriad of ridiculous ways; tons of things to see and try throughout the mall; great sense of style; a plot that manages to be intriguing without intruding too much on the action; and fantastic sound effects.”

9. Saints Row – Action

Welcome to Stillwater, an open-world city with attitude, a city controlled by rival gangs, a city you are about to take over in Saints Row. As a low-level thug in the Third Street Saints, you’ll do whatever it takes to get the money and build the respect and power you need to muscle your way to the top. Numerous vehicles are available to “borrow,” pedestrians can be slugged or robbed at gunpoint, and there are an assortment of missions to advance the game’s primarily storyline. Some features include: fun, responsive driving controls; excellent shooting action; impressive presentation, featuring amazing explosions and great audio; and a well-written, well-acted story to implement. 10. Hitman: Blood Money – Action On the run from rival assassins, Agent 47 hops a plane to take care of business in Hitman: Blood Money. Players will guide Agent 47 through a number of locales, including New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas as he performs hits. It’s up to the player to determine the manner in which a hit is executed, but the “rookie training” mode can show amateur assassins how to help targets have “accidents,” by pushing the victim over a ledge, for example. The amount of money earned from completed jobs varies depending on the cleanliness and professionalism of the hit. Agent 47′s paychecks can be spent in a number of ways including bribing reporters, buying customized upgrades for weapons, or paying bystanders for information. Open-ended stealth action gameplay lets you sneak around, or run and gun; beautifully crafted mission set pieces seem appropriately big and complex; large variety of realistic weapons; and great combination of action and strategy.

What are the steps to reviewing a game?

December 16th, 2010

I want to start reviewing video games, and (mostly fake/"bootleg") video game consoles.

What are the must have things to review in a game?

The gameplay,controls,audio,and what else?
Oh,and to reviewing a console.

For Games:
-First off, when you put the game in, yo have to be compleatly unbiased about it. I mean, you shouldn’t talk too much about how you have always hated the series or the company that made it (unless you want to make reviews like the Irrate Gamer on Youtube).
-Take notes on the soundtrack, controls, storyline, voice acting, etc…
-Make a list of Pros (the Good) and Cons (the Bad)
-If the game plain out sucks, you can either flat-out say it or hint to it by mentioning its cons
-Examin the environments and see if the game play is linear or open-world
-Go EVERYWHERE in the game. If you find a glitch in the first hour of testing, it is going to be easy to find more
-Do research on the Company that made the game and mention if this was a good, bad, or expected quality release from them.

Hope I helped!

What You Need To Know Video Games

December 13th, 2010

Video games give little boys the opportunity to play major league sports in the comfort of their own home, and fantasize about what it would be like if they donned a colorful jersey of their favorite football or basketball team and took on their opponent in a National playoff game.

These action sports are displayed in realistic regulation sized court settings that come complete with the cheering fan sounds that come from a sell-out crowd, or a player might be subjected to boos and hisses from fans, that are emitted following a bad play on the playing field that resulted in an interception when the ball is on the 10 yard line.

All of these athletically oriented video games allow children to mentally interact in a fast paced game environment. These young children will become very knowledgeable about the physical movements that are required to play basketball and football, before they are ever tasked to perform these actions in real life.

These athletic video games have a unique personalization attached to them, and children identify with many major NBA team players that they see on the basketball courts on weekday nights and weekends throughout the year. These video games help to reinforce confidence levels in children and remind them that they can do anything they want in life if they are willing to put in enough effort to refine their talents.

Fathers and sons can form a bonded relationship through video games. The helpful hints and life learning experiences can be shared between family members, and each one realizes how very talented the other person is in different aspects of game play. Perhaps the parent excels at finding lost treasure, and the child can complete snowboarding flips better than their father. In many cases, the child becomes a teacher for a time, and they always enjoy that opportunity immensely.

A lot of fun can be achieved when families share game controllers and drive race cars haphazardly through city streets. The amusement of cars repeatedly crashing into buildings with no sign of car damage and children running over any pedestrian they choose at any point in the game can get very comical at times. Video games allow children to develop a sense of humor and develop a keen perception that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Children learn very quickly about how to set up a video game consoles and attach the various game controllers. They become unlicensed computer technicians when they can instruct other people how to use the systems without batting an eye. They learn how memory cards work and how much memory a certain game will take up on their card. Memory cards are very useful to children because they tire quickly of playing a game that needs to be restarted time after time with no winner or end in sight.

Video games are very durable and can take a large amount of abuse before they are broken. The thick plastic that surrounds these electronic game cards is impact resistant and can take many years of wear and tear before they will malfunction. Many people find smaller games more suitable for road trips and vacations, and realize the importance of purchasing a multimedia console that the whole family can enjoy viewing in the living room of their home too.
